What is Information Architecture (IA)? Ask the #ideablender! #WIAD2017

Information Architecture (IA) is all around us! It’s what makes websites usable and easy to navigate. It’s what makes social networks understand the connections between their members. It’s what allows employees to browse complex data sets.

Do you understand Information Architecture?

In the wake of World Information Architecture Day, February 18, we are having a special ideablender on the art and science of Information Architecture (IA).

IA is the combination of organization, labeling, search and navigation systems inside websites and intranets. An emerging discipline and community of practice focused on bringing principles of design and architecture to the digital landscape.

ideablender is a 3-hour long exchange of competency and expertise, starting with a 30 min introduction by subject matter experts, and then continuing the conversation in smaller groups. We will be rotating tables so that everyone can learn & share what they think about different subtopics:
• content: how are we organizing information?
• context & scope: what are the many uses of IA?
• users: what is their role in how we do IA?
• you: how to become an Information Architect?

Our experts from different fields:
• user experience: Tricia Okin
• information management: Christian De Neef
• search: to be confirmed

Interested? Let’s meet for the next ideablender on Friday, February 17, from 9:30 to 12:30 in Brussels, and let’s discuss IA from different perspectives!
